About GFI
Headquartered in New York, GFI was founded in 1987
and employs more than 1,300 people around the world. The company
provides services and products to over 1,700 institutional clients,
including leading investment and commercial banks, corporations,
insurance companies and hedge funds.
Through its various subsidiaries, GFI offers competitive inter-dealer
brokerage services in more than 150 global cash and derivative markets
such as, credit derivatives, fixed income, foreign exchange and
financial derivatives, equity, energy commodities and property derivatives.
These are typically illiquid and complex markets, where brokers
perform a valuable role for their clients, using their position
at the centre of information flows to source the best price. Reputed
for being an early mover in typically more complex and illiquid
markets, such as emissions, credit derivatives, freight, weather
and hybrid derivatives, GFI has been instrumental in helping to
develop liquidity and educate new participants.
GFI’s UK brokerage entities (GFI Securities Limited and GFI
Brokers Limited) are duly authorised and regulated to conduct investment
business by the Financial Services Authority (“FSA”)
with Part IV permission under the provisions of the Financial Services
and Markets Act 2000. All investment business conducted by GFI in
the UK is subject to the rules of the FSA. These rules are designed
to promote a high standard of professional market behaviour.
